The Design Beyond Deception project has made significant impact by being featured at prestigious events and conferences, sharing insights and advocating for a more trustworthy digital future. Through these engagements, we have raised awareness about deceptive design and its implications among multiple stakeholder groups, and thereby contributed towards creating more ethical and trustworthy digital experiences.

The Pranava Institute conducted a workshop on Deceptive Design for over 20 participants at DesignUp 2024. The workshop utilised activities from our "Design Beyond Deception" manual, equipping participants with the skills to identify and mitigate deceptive practices. A highlight of the workshop was the collaborative exercise where teams tackled real-world cases of deceptive patterns and developed innovative trusted design alternatives. Read more

Our Co-Founder, Titiksha spoke at the Global Innovation Gathering (GiG) Community call on 'Creating Trustworthy Digital Futures: Tackling Deceptive Design to enhance Privacy Online' exploring the intersection of deceptive design, privacy, and consumer trust. The discussion highlighted the various challenges faced by Global South countries when it comes to digitalisation. Read more

Titiksha Vashist spoke about 'Actualising privacy for the end-user: Taking deceptive design seriously' at the International Researchers Online meet up organised by the DPSN network. We shared our work on how regulating deceptive design is crucial to actualising privacy rights for the end-user with fellow privacy researchers and legal scholars in the DPSN network.

Titiksha Vashist, our Co-Founder was part of the global financial inclusion panel convened by Center for Financial Inclusion for the Financial Inclusion Week 2023.
The panel discussed the tools and policy directions needed in the financial sector to make financial services safe, trusted and deceptive design free.

Design Beyond Deception manual was launched at the Internet Governance Forum 2023- Kyoto, Japan. At our launch event, we also had a global line-up of speakers who spoke about deceptive design policy and law across the world.
